This is reported by the Center for Journalistic Investigations with reference to the verdict of the board of judges of the Khortytsky District Court of Zaporizhzhia on June 24.

In December 2022, 43-year-old Yurii Voronyuk from the Dzhankoy district of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea voluntarily signed a contract with the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. According to the verdict, he participated in the occupation of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.

In August 2023, the man was captured near Robotyno. For his crime, Voronyuk received a real prison term of 15 years with confiscation of property.

In court, he stated that he considers himself a citizen of the Russian Federation, as he received a Russian passport in 2015 and wrote in a statement to the occupation authorities that he was renouncing Ukrainian citizenship. However, he did not address this issue to any institutions in Ukraine.
