A Crimean citizen who fought on the side of the Russian army was sentenced to 12 years in prison for high treason. This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
“Prosecutors proved that in 2021, realizing that an international armed conflict was ongoing, the man entered into a contract with the Russian Armed Forces. After the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, as part of the army of the occupying state, he entered the mainland of Ukraine”,- the message says.
It is known that the convict fought in the Kherson and Mykolyiev regions. He was subsequently captured by the Ukrainian military.
