Reshat Ametov – the first victim of the occupants. On March 3, 2014 Reshat Ametov was abducted by unknown persons in camouflage uniforms in the center of Simferopol, where he held a single picket against the occupation of Crimea. Ametov’s body was found on March 15 in the field of Zemlyanichnoye village of Belogorsk district with stabs and cut wounds in the eye, numerous signs of body tortures. The head was tied up with sticky tape, hands were handcuffed. He had three young children.

In April, the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Department of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Crimea initiated a murder investigation over Ametov's murder. In 2015, the case was suspended. "Investigation" did not establish the persons involved in the murder of Reshat Ametov.

In the comments to "Krym. Realii" Eskender Bariiev, a member of  Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, the Head of the CTRC  noted that this "case is practically closed, nobody investigates it, because, let's say, everything indicates that it was an order of the leaders of "self-defense". The executor was "self-defense" and the order was given, I think, by the first persons who lead the "Republic "." According to Bariiev, Reshat Ametov is a symbol of the struggle of 2014 for the integrity of Ukraine against Russian aggression.

In May 2017, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed a decree conferring the title of Hero of Ukraine to Reshat Ametov.
