The head of the Alem NGO, Esma Adzhiieva, emphasized that many people believe that the culture of indigenous peoples is still associated with the distant past, although in fact the Crimean Tatar culture is a living element in everyday life.
“The culture of indigenous peoples in the imagination of the majority is still associated with the distant past. Some issue of ethnographers of previous centuries, which is mentioned mainly during national holidays or symbolic events. We are working hard to rethink the approach to understanding the heritage of the Crimean Tatars in the all-Ukrainian cultural space. Our culture is indeed a living element present in our daily lives. And this is not only about its external forms and aesthetics – costumes, dishes, beautiful things or rituals, it's about the fact that the content is more important than the form",- she stressed.
