The Crimean Tatar people are the indigenous people of Ukraine, whose homeland is Crimea. But, unfortunately, most Ukrainians are not sufficiently aware of the history, culture and traditions of this people. Therefore, the Crimean Tatar Resource Center wants to introduce you to famous modern Crimean Tatars by launching a new series of publications with their quotes.
So, we start by getting to know Hulnara Abdulaieva. She is a Ukrainian historian and TV presenter of Crimean Tatar origin, author of numerous books about the history of the Crimean Tatar people.
Ms. Hulnara believes that the history of the Crimean Tatar people is easy enough to preserve, but the main problem is that it needs to be popularized.
“Storing history is easy. It needs to be popularized, to encourage interest in it among the Ukrainian and world audience. But this must be done in an interesting way through events, with the help of books, students, publications, at least through electronic resources from transmission media, video blogs, and so on. Today all this is real. And the most important thing is to clean the history of the Crimean Tatars from labels and Soviet narratives”,- she said.
