CTRC will receive observer status under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change

July 22, 2022

The Crimean Tatar Resource Center has been recommended for obtaining observer status under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, which makes it possible to actively participate in the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP).

We remind you that the United Nations Climate Change Conference, better known as COP, is an annual conference that takes place in different countries of the world. Obtaining observer status allows representatives of the organization to make statements, speak at plenary sessions and organize side events.

It should be noted that in Ukraine, together with the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, only 9 organizations have this status.

The CTRC team is sincerely grateful for this opportunity. We will continue to work systematically in this direction, because the occupation and full-scale war in Ukraine has a very negative impact on the ecosystem of Crimea.

We remind you that the CTRC submitted dozens of applications, complaints, reports to relevant international environmental organizations and their structures on the environmental situation in the occupied Crimea in order to draw the attention of the international community to the ecocide carried out by the occupying authorities on the peninsula. We also held various thematic events at different venues and created a number of information, analytical and documentary products.
