Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, head of the Department of Legal and Foreign Affairs of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Eskender Bariiev in an interview with the Crimea.Realities commented on the situation with the holiday season in the occupied Crimea and the occupied Kherson region.
As Bariiev noted, the CTRC analyzes the situation in the bordering territory with the peninsula occupied by Russia. He said that there are no tourists in the occupied Henichesk district of Kherson this summer either.
“For example, if we take the Henichesk district, this is the village of Strilkove, the city of Henichesk, Henhorka, Schastlyvtseve. Many people who came to these resort places were people who came from nearby areas, as well as many owners of recreation centers, boarding houses – they are from Dnipro region. In connection with the war, no one comes to the occupied territory now, so there are no people there”,- he explained.
He noted that due to the lack of a holiday season, not only the owners of hotels and recreation centers suffered, but also farmers who sold agricultural products to vacationers.
“I will tell you that today in the occupied Crimea, if, for example, last year there were a lot of tourists, then this year there is a very big problem. The problem is that many hotels are generally empty. It's the middle of summer and there are no tourists. Because the Russians are afraid to come to Crimea”,- Bariiev added.
