A round table was held in Kyiv to discuss mass repressions in the 20th and 21st centuries

On Tuesday, May 17, a round table was held in Kyiv on the topic Deportations, mass repressions, artificial famine: policy instruments of totalitarian regimes of the 20th and 21st centuries, one of the co-organizers of which is the Crimean Tatar Resource Center.

Speakers were:

Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Tamila Tasheva,

Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov,

Member of the Presidium of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center Eskender Bariiev,

Rector of the University of Education Management NAPNU, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Higher Education of Ukraine, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor of the Department of Philosophy and Adult Education Mykola Kyrychenko,

Doctor of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, Director of the Holodomor Research Institute Svitlana Markova,

Andrii Ivanets, Ph.D.

Speakers discussed the following issues:

Why should one investigate the crimes of the communist totalitarian regime in Soviet Ukraine?

How is the policy of state terror of the USSR and modern Russia similar to Ukraine/Ukrainian Question?

Why did it become possible to repeat the policy of genocide towards Ukraine?

Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center Eskender Bariiev noted in his speech that such events can increase the awareness of the Ukrainian society about the crimes committed by totalitarian regimes. According to the expert, this will help Ukrainian society in the fight against Putin's new totalitarian regime.
