In Kyiv, a plan of events for the 78th anniversary of the deportation of the Crimean Tatars was presented

On Monday, May 16, in Kyiv, at a press conference Impunity breeds lawlessness of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, a plan of events dedicated to the 78th anniversary of the deportation of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people was presented.

MEMORIAL EVENTS DEDICATED TO THE MEMORY OF THE VICTIMS OF THE GENOCIDE OF THE CRIMEAN TATARS PEOPLE

I. Memorial events to be held in the settlements of the temporarily occupied Crimea

1.1 Laying flowers at commemorative stones and commemorative signs erected in memory of the victims of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people. Conducting a dua/prayer.

1.2. Raising above residential buildings or on flagpoles, as well as installing on the balconies of apartments of the Crimean Tatar national flags, framed by a black mourning ribbon.

III. Memorial events that take place on the mainland of Ukraine – in Kyiv, in individual regional centers and cities.

3.7 The Crimean Tatar Resource Center will hold an online screening (on the Youtube channel of the CTRC) of a full-length documentary film Witnesses of the 1944 Genocide, dedicated to the investigation and recognition of the deportation of the Crimean Tatar people as an act of genocide. The testimonies of witnesses and the memories of the film's characters reveal the fate of hundreds of thousands of other deported Crimean Tatars.

3.8 Impunity breeds lawlessness: CTRC launches an information campaign (big board, city light, as well as in social networks) on the 78th anniversary of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people in order to publicize the crimes of the Russian Federation against humanity, which are becoming systemic. The world did not condemn the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people in 1944 and this impunity gave rise to new crimes, namely the genocide of the Ukrainian people in 2022. We must stop this.

IV. Memorial events dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of the victims of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people in Canada, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, the USA, Turkey will be held by organizations of the Crimean Tatar diaspora in cooperation with the diplomatic missions of Ukraine abroad and the Ukrainian diaspora.

Online screening of the documentary film directed by Christina Pashyn  A Struggle for home : the Crimean Tatars at Northwestern University (Northwestern University) in the USA in Ivanston, Illinois. After the screening of the film, there will be a discussion about the Deportation of 1944, the current situation of the Crimean Tatars with the participation of representatives of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center.
