In October 2021, 73 detentions were recorded in the occupied Crimea, all of them in relation to the Crimean Tatars. The number has increased significantly compared to 2020, then only 8 arrests were recorded during the same period. This is stated in the Analysis of Human Rights Violations in the Occupied Crimea over October 2021 by the Crimean Tatar Resource Center.
Chronology:
On October 1, police officers detained and took away activist Leila Yashlavska. She was released only 5 hours later.
On October 11, Russian security forces detained 15 activists who came to the so-called court building, where they were supposed to consider an appeal against the verdict in the so-called Krasnohvardiiske Hizb ut-Tahrir case. Five people were also detained near the so-called third Central police department of the Russian Interior Ministry's Directorate for Simferopol.
On October 14, Russian security forces detained 16-year-old civilian journalist Amar Abdulgaziev near the building of the so-called Crimean garrison military court. The occupants asked him questions about his father, Tofik Abdulgaziev, and later released him.
On October 25, Russian security forces detained 20 Crimean Tatar activists who came as listeners to a so-called court session in the so-called Krasnohvardiiske Hizb ut-Tahrir case.
On October 25, lawyer Edem Semedliaiev was detained.
On October 29, in Simferopol, law enforcement officers took 30 Crimean Tatars to police stations, who were awaiting the announcement of the verdict and put on white capes in defense of the defendants in the so-called third Bakhchysarai Hizb ut-Tahrir case.
We remind you that earlier the Crimean Tatar Resource Center presented the Analysis of Human Rights Violations in the Occupied Crimea over October 2021 . According to the organization, during the reporting period, there were 3 searches, 73 detentions, 16 arrests, 73 cases of interrogations, interviews and conversations, 1 transferring and 40 cases of imposition of fines. 47 cases of violation of the right to a fair trial were recorded. There are 4 known cases of violation of the right to healthcare access.
