Russia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Bakhchysarai district wants to establish administrative supervision over a civilian journalist, former political prisoner Nariman Memedeminov. This was reported by the Crimean Solidarity public association.
The occupants demand a ban on leaving or staying outside the dwelling from 22:00 to 6:00, to oblige law enforcement officers to visit twice a month, and to ban travelling outside the administrative district.
We remind that on March 22, 2018, Russian security forces searched the dwelling of the Crimean Solidarity activist, civillian journalist Nariman Memedeminov in the village of Kholmivka, Bakhchysarai district. According to his wife, the search was carried out in a rude manner, security officers broke down the front door and used obscene language. The man himself was detained on suspicion of publicly calling for terrorist activities. Memedeminov has been illegally detained for more than a year. During this period, Nariman Memedeminov's right to a fair trial was repeatedly violated, in particular, his detention was regularly extended and his appeals were rejected. The right to healthcare access was also violated. On October 2, the Southern District Military Court held a court session in the so-called Nariman Memedeminov’s case, during which a court sentenced a civilian journalist to two years and six months in a penal colony and banned him from administering websites for two years. On September 21, a civilian journalist was released.
