After the occupation of Crimea, Russian security forces began to persecute everyone, including the elderly and people with disabilities who are seriously ill.
Now, according to the Crimean Tatar Resource Centre, the following are being held in the FSB’s custody:
Zekirya Muratov – disabled group 3
Alexander Sizikov – 1st group disability
Timur Ibragimov – 3rd group disability
Servet Gaziev -2 group disability
Amet Suleymanov -3rd group disability
Timur Yalkabov -rd group disability
Remzi Kurtnezirov, who has a 2d group disability, is now under house arrest.
These people are seriously ill. Due to inadequate conditions in pre-trial detention centres and prisons, due to systematic ignoring of complaints about their health, due to inadequate and untimely medical care, their state of health continues to deteriorate. And, unfortunately, we have already had deplorable consequences, when the 60-year-old political prisoner, who had a 2 group disability, Dzhemil Gafarov, and 61-year-old Konstantin Shiring, who also had health problems, died.
By these actions, the RF violates the rights of political prisoners to the highest attainable level of physical and mental health. Moreover, according to the legislation of the Russian Federation seriously ill people should be released from detention, as human life is the highest value, the sentence should not become a death sentence.
We demand that the Russian Federation immediately release the above-mentioned individuals and all other political prisoners, as well as cease systemic human rights violations in the occupied Crimea.
