We will not repent for what we did not do – Pankin abut the occupation of Crimea

June 8, 2021

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandr Pankin said that the Russian Federation “will not repent for what it did not do” and “no one will go to ask someone to lift the sanctions”, since “we will not return Crimea.” This was reported by the Interfax media agency.

"Russia will not go to ask someone to lift the sanctions. It is clear that we will not repent for what we did not do. It is clear that we will not return Crimea. If Crimea is the part of Russia, then the sanctions will definitely always be with us. When we speak about counteraction, we must talk about readiness for new sanctions. Of course, there is a list of additional measures that are kept “under the rug” and which will be involved in those moments, in those conditions that will be deemed necessary”,- he said.

We remind that on March 12, the European Union extended individual sanctions for six months against 177 people and 48 organizations involved in undermining the territorial integrity of Ukraine. Later, Canada and Australia introduced new sanctions against individuals and legal entities that were involved in the construction of the Kerch Bridge. Also, US President Joe Biden introduced new sanctions against the Russian Federation because of its harmful external activities.
