Italian Federation for the Defense of Human Rights calls for the release of political prisoner Amet Suleymanov

The Italian Federation for the Defense of Human Rights, on the 77th anniversary of the memory of the victims of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people, called on the Russian Federation to end the persecution of the Crimean Tatars, as well as to release the civil journalist Amet Suleymanov.

In a statement, the Italian Federation for the Defense of Human Rights recalled the civilian journalist Amet Suleimanov, who faces 20 years in prison for his position. In this regard, the Federation demands the immediate release of Suleymanov and all other political prisoners of Crimea.

We remind that on March 11, 2020, Russian security forces raided the homes of Crimean Tatars in Bakhchisaray and the Bakhchisaray district. Searches were carried out in the house of Seitumer Seitumerov, Shukri Seitumerov, Amet Suleymanov, Seidamet Mustafayev, Rustem Seitmemetov, Ayder Suleymanov and Seitumer Seitumerov. The activists were detained. On March 12, the so-called Kyiv District Court of Simferopol sent Amet Suleymanov under house arrest. On March 13, the so-called Kyiv District Court chose a measure of restraint for the defendants in the so-called third Bakhchisaray Hizb ut-Tahrir case – Osman Seytumerov, Seytumer Seytumerov and Rustem Seitememetov in the form of detention. Osman Seytumerov, Seytumer Seytumerov and Rustem Seitememetov will remain in jail until May 10, 2020.
