The Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the occupied Crimea claimed that it has completed the investigation in the so-called criminal case of a 30-year-old resident of Kerch, who is suspected of participating in the Jehovah’s Witnesses organization. This was reported by the press service of the department.
“The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation of the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol has completed the investigation of a criminal case against a 30-year-old resident of Kerch, accused of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – participation in the activities of a religious organization, in respect of which the court adopted a decision that entered into legal force on the liquidation or prohibition of activities in connection with the implementation of extremist activities”,- the message said.
It is noted that from 2015 to 2017, the man was directly involved in the events held by the religious organization Jehovah's Witnesses in Kerch, being an active supporter and follower of the community.
At present, the so-called criminal case has been sent to the prosecutor for examination, signing of the indictment and further referral of the case to the court for consideration on the merits.
