On Thursday, March 18, during a press conference in Kyiv, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda said that Lithuania did not recognize the annexation of Crimea, and also called on the world community to continue the policy of sanctions against the aggressor country. This was reported by the press service of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
“And now on Ukrainian soil I say – Lithuania is with you. I declare firm support for Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity, Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine. And today I state with pleasure that we have confirmed this support with the General Declaration, which we signed with President Zelenskyy”,- he said.
Gitanas Nausėda also expressed support for the initiative of the President of Ukraine to create the Crimean Platform and called on the world community to continue the policy of sanctions against the aggressor country.
“We are in favor of the implementation of the Minsk agreements, but we cannot calmly look at the fact that Russia is not fulfilling its obligations. We do not see Russia's attempts to end the war in the Donbas and therefore call on democratic states to strengthen sanctions against Russia. Lithuania does not recognize the annexation of Crimea and actively declares that this is a crime, in European institutions and in the UN. We say: Crimea is Ukraine. We support the Ukrainian initiative to create a Crimean platform that does not recognize the annexation of Crimea”,- added the President of Lithuania.
