Lithuania demands from the Russian Federation to stop the systematic violation of human rights in Crimea

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania called on Russia to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and also demands from the Russian Federation to immediately stop the systematic violation of human rights and the suppression of fundamental freedoms in the illegally occupied Crimea. This was reported by the press service of the department.

 

“Today, taking into account the provisions of United Nations General Assembly resolution 68/262, we urge Russia to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. We call on Russia to end the systematic violation of human rights and the suppression of fundamental freedoms in the illegally annexed Crimea, as well as to end the repression against human rights defenders, journalists, members of civil society, especially the Crimean Tatars, and to lift the ban on the activities of the Mejlis – the self-governing body of the Crimean Tatars”,- the statement says.

Lithuania also calls on the Russian Federation to release all illegally imprisoned citizens of Ukraine, to end the militarization of the Crimean peninsula and to ensure the unhindered and free passage of all ships through the Kerch Strait to the Sea of Azov and back.
