Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe Borys Tarasyuk condemned the verdict of the defendants in the so-called Bilohirsk Hizb ut-Tahrir case who were imprisoned for a term of 13 to 18 years and noted that the Russian Federation continues its policy of persecuting Crimean Tatars and suppresses any signs of dissent in the occupied Crimea. The press service of the department reported about this.
“They were illegally detained in Crimea and moved, in violation of international law, to Russian territory in Rostov-on-Don. All this indicates that the Russian judicial system has nothing to do with justice, but only continues the policy of persecuting Crimean Tatars and suppresses any signs of dissent in the occupied Crimea”,- the message said.
It is noted that the Permanent Representative of Ukraine has demanded that the Russian Federation cancel the court decision and immediately release all Ukrainian citizens who are illegally detained by Russia.
