Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Eskender Bariiev in an interview with the Apostrophe TV channel once again emphasized that the main reason for discrimination, arrests, lack of water, environmental problems in Crimea is precisely the occupation of the peninsula.
“Crimeans are increasingly beginning to understand that the situation on the peninsula with water and other processes is primarily related to the occupation. We need to give the main message that the occupation of Crimea is the root cause of all problems. And discrimination, and arrests, and lack of water and environmental problems. Therefore, we are trying to explain this to the entire international community, and we try to give this message to the Crimeans”,- he stressed.
Speaking about the situation with water, Bariiev stressed that the RF itself is to blame for its shortage. After all, over the summer alone, 3.5 million holidaymakers came to use this water. The development of a large residential complex and an increase in the population continue.
“We, for our part, the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, have submitted a document to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Special Rapporteur on Environment and Human Rights, who will make a report on water in March 2021. In the document, we say that because of the irrational approach of the occupation authorities to natural water sources a catastrophe may and is extremely likely to occur”,- added the Head of the Board of the CTRC.
