December 17, 2020

The US Embassy in Ukraine supported the adoption of a strengthened and updated resolution on human rights in the occupied Crimea and called on the Russian Federation to immediately stop bullying on the peninsula and ensure unhindered access for human rights monitors.

“We welcome the UN General Assembly resolution calling on Russia to abide to its obligations as an occupier in Crimea, and we urge it to immediately stop committing violations and bullying there. Russia must release illegally detained Ukrainians and ensure unhindered access for human rights observers”,- the statement said.

We remind that on December 16, the UN General Assembly adopted a strengthened resolution on the human rights situation in the occupied Crimea. 64 countries voted for the corresponding decision, 23 voted against.
