The Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea reported suspicion to the so-called military commissar for the Black Sea and Rozdolnensky regions who forced the Crimeans to serve in the armed forces of the occupying state. The press service of the department reported about this.
“The pre-trial investigation established that the suspect, after the annexation of the peninsula, in 2014 changed his oath of allegiance to the people of Ukraine and switched to military service in the Russian army. Subsequently, in 2016, taking the post of the so-called military commissar of Crimea for the Black Sea and Rozdolnensky regions, he developed a plan and ensured the conduct of compulsory recruitment campaigns”,- the message said.
It is noted that the so-called military commissar, implementing the illegal decrees of the top leadership of the occupying state, organized 8 conscription campaigns of Crimeans for military service in the Russian Armed Forces.
The man is accused of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely in violation of the laws and customs of war, which consists in forcing persons to serve in the armed forces of the occupying state. The sanction of the article provides for punishment for a term of eight to twelve years in prison.
