Political prisoner Ivan Yatskin rejected a complaint to extend his arrest

November 10, 2020

On Tuesday, November 10, the First Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction rejected an appeal against the decision to extend the measure of restraint for political prisoner Ivan Yatskin, who is accused of alleged high treason in the form of espionage. He will remain in jail until October 16, 2020. Lawyer Nikolai Polozov reported this via his Facebook page.

“The session in the appellate instance was held behind closed doors in a special courtroom equipped with noise-absorbing equipment, where cases, including those related to state secrets, are considered. The consul of Ukraine Dyryza was allowed to announce the operative part of the court decision at the request of the defense”,- the message said.

We remind that in early December 2019, Russian security forces in the occupied Crimea detained Ivan Yatskin, a resident of Simferopol, on charges of alleged high treason. Subsequently, the man was transferred to Moscow. He was arrested until March 16, 2020. Ivan Yatskin's lawyer, Nikolai Polozov, signed a non-disclosure agreement in the so-called case.
