The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reacted to the meeting of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Maria Peichinovich-Burich. The ministry stressed that no openly propaganda operations by the Kremlin can change the legal status of the peninsula as an integral part of the territory of Ukraine. This was reported by the UNN news agency.

Earlier, Sergei Lavrov, during a meeting with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Maria Peichinovich-Burich, reiterated the situation with the water blockade of the Crimean peninsula by Ukraine.

“The intensification of Russian speculations on this topic is nothing more than an attempt to divert the attention of the international community from the crimes that the Russian occupation authorities are committing in Crimea, including enforced disappearances, murders and torture”,- the Foreign Ministry noted.

The ministry stressed that in this way the invaders will not be able to change the legal status of the peninsula.

“No Russian efforts change the legal reality, according to international humanitarian law, Russia, as an occupying state, is responsible for the occupied territories and must provide the population with everything necessary. The Kremlin’s propaganda operations cannot change the legal status of Crimea as an integral part of Ukraine’s territory within the international recognized borders”,- the Foreign Ministry added.
