Mejlis calls on OSCE and UN missions to visit occupied Crimea due to catastrophic epidemiological situation

The Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People calls on the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (SMM) and the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine to visit the occupied Crimea due to the catastrophic epidemiological situation caused by the high spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

“The number of daily cases of COVID-19 in the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol has long exceeded the level that can be provided by the capabilities of existing medical institutions and existing medical personnel, as a result of which many patients with coronavirus have its most severe form, they are denied hospitalization, dooming a person to certain death”,- said in the statement published by the Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov.

The Presidium of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People calls on the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (SMM) and the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission to visit the temporarily occupied Crimea in order to study the situation with respect to human rights on the peninsula, in particular on health protection and medical assistance in case of illness.
