Restoring the water supply to Crimea is possible only after the de-occupation of the peninsula – Tsymbaliuk

October 23, 2020

On Thursday, October 22, Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna Ievhen Tsymbaliuk said during a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council that Ukraine is not going to meet the needs of the Russian military-industrial complex in water and will restore water supply only after the de-occupation of the peninsula. The press service of the department reported about this.

“The internal water resources of Crimea are sufficient to meet the water needs of the population of the peninsula, even in the driest years. If the occupying state declares a lack of water resources for the population, we understand that water resources are redirected for other purposes, such as the functioning of the military-industrial complex and bases. Ukraine is not going to meet the needs of the Russian military-industrial complex in water”,- the statement said.

Tsymbaliuk stressed that the restoration of the water supply of Crimea with mainland Ukraine is possible only after the de-occupation of the peninsula.

“We again call on the Russian Federation to abolish the illegal occupation of Crimea, the militarization of the Black and Azov Seas and to stop the aggression against Ukraine, including by withdrawing its armed formations, mercenaries and their equipment from the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine and fully fulfilling its obligations under the Minsk agreements”,- he added.
