The so-called Director of the Institute of Archeology of the Occupied Peninsula of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vadim Maiko said that during the excavations, which are being carried out at the construction site of a water pipeline near the village of Novomykolayivka, part of the ancient settlement of Adzhi-El was discovered.

“I can't say that this is an outstanding find, but something else is important – thanks to these excavations, we can for the first time raise the question of the archeology of the Crimean Khanate. Its history is well known, but the life of the population has hardly been studied. Excavations allow us to find out what people used, how they lived in this plan, the study of the Adji-El settlement is important”,- Maiko said in a comment to the RIA News media agency.

It is noted that it has already been possible to excavate more than 4 thousand square meters of the surroundings and explore the economic pits of the late medieval time. Maiko clarified that these are finds from the Golden Horde period.
