Erdoğan needs to respect Russia’s position – Kovitidi

October 19, 2020

The so-called senator from the occupied Crimea, Olga Kovitidi, reacted sharply to the statement of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan about non-recognition of the occupation of the peninsula. She said that Erdoğan needs to respect Russia’s position. This is reported by the RBC media agency.

“I am firmly convinced that Erdoğan needs to be reminded that there is President Vladimir Putin in Russia. The President of Russia expressed his position on Crimea quite clearly that under no circumstances will Crimea return to Ukraine. That is why I believe that Erdoğan needs to respect Russia's position”,- she said.

It is noted that otherwise Moscow will have a number of questions in which Ankara is not interested. According to her, Turkey's foreign policy is becoming “toxic”, including in the situation with the conflict in Dağlıq Qarabağ.

“The senator also recalled that in June 2020, the Turkish party “Vatan” (it does not have a faction in the Turkish parliament) presented the Black Sea-Mediterranean plan of friendship and peace, which included the issue of recognizing the Russian annexation of Crimea”,- the message says.
