Ablyamitov’s defense will provide evidence of his innocence

The defense of the political prisoner Medzhyt Ablyamitov, detained on August 19 in the occupied Crimea, after reviewing the materials of the so-called case announced the need for a preliminary hearing, since there are many circumstances for the termination of the criminal prosecution. This was announced via his Facebook page by his lawyer Ayder Azamatov.

“The materials of the criminal case against Medzhyt Ablyamitov have been sent for consideration to the Kirov District Court of Crimea. Medzhyt is accused of committing a crime under Part 2, Article 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – participation in the Noman Çelebicihan Battalion. Medzhyt believes that he has not done anything unlawful. At the stage of the preliminary investigation, the defense and Medzhyt announced after reading the case materials, the need to hold a preliminary hearing in the case, since there are many circumstances for the termination of the criminal prosecution of Ablyamitov”,- the message said.

The lawyer noted that the preventive measure against the political prisoner expires on October 17, in connection with which the invaders will schedule the next hearing before that date.

We remind that on August 19, 2020, the FSB in the occupied Crimea detained 26-year-old Medzhyt Ablyamitov, suspected of allegedly participating in the Noman Çelebicihan Crimean Tatar Volunteer Battalion. He was charged with committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, for which the punishment is imprisonment for up to fifteen years. On August 20, the man was arrested for 2 months – until October 17, 2020.
