The lawyer of the defendant in the so-called Hizb ut-Tahrir case Eldar Kantimirov, who was previously placed in a punishment cell for reading namaz, sent a complaint to the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office in connection with the illegal actions of employees of the specialized Rostov prosecutor’s office. Defender Ayder Azamatov reported this via his Facebook page.
The lawyer recalled that due to the bias and disrespect of the employees of the specialized Rostov prosecutor's office, Eldar Kantimirov was placed in the punishment cell for 7 days. The reason was that the political prisoner was performing namaz at the moment when the jailers entered the cell.
“I hope the General Prosecutor's Office will conduct a proper check and bring to justice the employees of the department, who, instead of monitoring and observing the protection of the rights of persons held in pre-trial detention centers, including the rights of Kantimirov Eldar, themselves initiate blasphemous violations, thereby rejecting the trust of citizens”,- he added.
We remind that on June 10, Russian security forces conducted mass searches in the dwellings of Crimean Tatars in Alushta, Bilohirsk and Simferopol. As a result, 8 people were detained on suspicion of their involvement in the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization banned in the Russian Federation. On June 10 and 11, the so-called Kyiv District Co
The Crimean Tatar Resource Center calls on the international community, international human rights organizations to increase pressure on the Russian Federation and the occupation authorities of Crimea in order to stop political persecution and cancel the previously issued court decisions.
