Oleksiy Bessarabov, the figurqnt in the case of Ukrainian Saboteurs , can’t afford to pay a fine of 300,000 rubles, which was imposed by the “court.” Besides, the family of the political prisoner is in a poor financial situation. The Crimean Solidarity public assocition reports.
“There is no possibility to pay the fine of 300,000 rubles for him [in the penal colony]; the family can’t do that either: he has a retired old mother”, the message says.
It is noted that Bessarabov’s family is in a poor financial situation: his younger child has a disease that needs constant neuropathologist consultations and medication treatment.
Let us recall that on November 9, 2016, in Sevastopol, FSB officers detained Vladimir Dudka, Dmitriy Shtyblikov, Oleksiy Bessarabov, and Gleb Shabliy on suspicion of sabotage preparation in Crimea (Article 30 and Paragraph "a" of Part 2 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stated that these repressive measures were carried out for the external audience in an attempt to discredit Ukraine in the eyes of the world community, as well as for the domestic Russian audience to convince that Ukrainians are allegedly dangerous.
On May 18, 2017, Dmitriy Shtyblikov entered into a plea bargain with the court, that is pleaded guilty. No lawyer was admitted to him. On November 16, 2017, the Sevastopol City "Court" sentenced him to 5 years’ hard labor and a fine of 200,000 rubles.
On April 4, 2019, the Sevastopol City “Court” sentenced Vladimir Dudka and Oleksiy Bessarabov, the figurqnt in the case of Ukrainian Saboteurs, to 14 years of imprisonment and fines of in the ammount of 350,000 and 300,000 rubles, respectively.
