The Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, a member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Eskender Bariiev, in an interview with the Crimea.Realities media agency said that the international format for the de-occupation of Crimea would be effective if the Russian Federation was directly involved in it.
“De-occupation platforms in different formats have been talked about for many years, but, in my opinion, the Russian Federation should participate in any of them. RF clearly stated that the issue with Crimea is closed, and in these conditions Ukraine needs to form a coalition that will directly deal with the issues of de-occupation, for example, on the basis of the Budapest Memorandum, according to which Ukraine renounced nuclear weapons in exchange for security guarantees from the United States, Great Britain and Russia”,- he said.
Bariiev explained that such a platform will have prospects only if Ukraine enlists the support of allies who systematically approach the issue of de-occupation through a sanctions policy.
