The Verkhovna Rada Human Rights Commissioner Liudmyla Denisova demands from the Russian Federation to restore the rights of Ukrainian political prisoners to adequate food and medical care. In addition, she calls on the international community to increase pressure on the Russian Federation to end the terror against the Crimean Tatars. Denisova announced this via her Facebook page.
Denisova noted that the defendants in the so-called second Simferopol and third Bakhchisaray Hizb ut-Tahrir cases are being transported to familiarize themselves with the materials of the criminal proceedings with gross violation of rights.
“They are forced to stay in the premises for 14-16 hours during investigative actions, they are not adapted for the simultaneous stay of a large number of people without adequate food. The dry rations that are given to them for several days contain products that Crimean Tatars cannot consume for religious reasons”,- the message said.
The representative of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights emphasized that Dzhemil Gafarov, who has been diagnosed with a disability of the second group, Ruslan Suleymanov, who has acute tonsillitis and fever, Server Gaziev, with severe pain in the intestines, and Osman Seitomerov, with bilateral pneumonia, are taken out to participate in investigative actions. Moreover, no one receives the necessary medical care for a long time.
“I call on the international human rights organizations and missions to use all available levers of influence on the Russian Federation so that the occupying country stops terror against the Crimean Tatars. Joint action is a guarantee of their release. All Kremlin captives must be released and return to their homeland”, – she added.
