Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the UN Sergiy Kyslytsya sent a letter to the UN Secretary General, in which he emphasized that Russia’s holding of the so-called elections in the occupied Crimea is a gross violation of international law. This was reported by the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the UN via Twitter.
“In a letter to the UN Secretary General, Ambassador Sergiy Kyslytsya stressed that the organization and holding of the so-called elections in Crimea by Russia are illegal and a gross violation of international law, including the UN Charter, a number of UN GA (General Assembly) resolutions and other international instruments”,- the message said.
We remind that earlier the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the EU and Lithuania also condemned the holding of the so-called voting for the election of the governor in the occupied Crimea, since such actions contradict the fundamental norms and principles of international law, as well as the legislation of Ukraine.
