The Turkish city of Odunpazarı tore up the treaty on sister cities with Bakhchisaray, which was signed on January 7, 2008, due to the Russian occupation of Crimea in 2014. This was reported by the Turkish edition of the Crimean News.
“Russia's invasion in Crimea is not recognized as legal by the Turkish Republic. Crimea is part of Ukraine, and all the rights of our compatriots living in Crimea are protected by the Turkish Republic. According to these explanations, it is wrong to continue the protocol of the sisterhood of the municipalities of Eskişehir Odunpazari and Bakhchisaray”,- the message says.
The municipality of the Turkish city stressed that it is not about suspension, but about termination of the protocol with the city, which is now under Russian occupation.
