Now according to the Crimean Tatar Resource Centre 54 political prisoners of Crimea are held in Russian pre-trial detention centres, 34 of them are representatives of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people.
Recall that according to the KRC data, 356 political prisoners and those prosecuted in criminal ‘cases’ for the period of occupation of Crimea were recorded, 222 of them are representatives of the Crimean Tatar people. According to the KRC, this category consists of 5 subcategories depending on the status of the persecuted:
– Those convicted and serving a sentence in a colony (165, 100 are Crimean Tatars);
– those with restrictions or probation (47, 24 – Crimean Tatars);
– in pre-trial detention centres (54, 36 – Crimean Tatars);
– released (56, 34 – Crimean Tatars);
– persecuted (34, 28 – Crimean Tatars).
