September 1, 2020

Forecasters from the occupied Crimea noted that due to a long shortage of precipitation in the upper reaches of most of the main rivers, very low water levels were observed, and five rivers: Alma, Chorna, Kacha, Belbek and Tonas were completely dry. This is reported by the so-called Hydrometeorological Center of the annexed peninsula.

“Since July 26, the Kacha River near the village of Suvorove has dried up, on August 3, the Alma River has dried up above the Partyzansk reservoir, on August 13, the Chorna River has dried up above the Chornorichensky reservoir, on August 18, the Belbek River near the Fruktove village has dried up, on August 29, for the first time in the history of hydrometeorological observations, the Tonas River has dried up, which is the right tributary of the Biyuk-Karasu river”,- the message says.

Subsequently, the flow of water into the Partyzanske and Chornorichensky reservoirs stopped, and to the rest it was insignificant.

In addition, an intensive drainage of the remaining water reserves of natural runoff reservoirs continues, the total total water supply by the beginning of autumn amounted to 62.88 million cubic meters, which is 11.98 million cubic meters less than a month ago.
