On Wednesday, August 26, representatives of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine met with representatives of the Ukrainian authorities and the UN, during which they asked the organization to bring the issue of preserving the OCU in the occupied Crimea to a meeting of the Security Council. This was reported via the OCU Facebook page.
“The attention of the world community is riveted to the systematic harassment by the occupation authorities in Crimea against the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. The attempts carried out by the executive and judicial authorities of the Russian Federation to oust the Ukrainian cells, the denial of the rule of law and human freedom is a Crimean reality that must be changed for the better step by step”,- the message says.
The representatives of the OCU appealed to the permanent members of the UN Security Council to support Ukraine, and the question of preserving the Orthodox Church of Ukraine in Crimea was brought up at the meeting of the UN Security Council.
“I appeal to the world community: help us preserve the Orthodox Church. Help us preserve Ukrainian society. Help us to return Russia to the legal field so that they fulfill international agreements”,- said Metropolitan of Simferopol and Crimea Klyment.
