On Monday, August 23, Ukraine celebrates the Day of the National Flag. It is worth noting that after the beginning of the occupation of Crimea, the last flag of Ukraine was lowered only 8 months later – from the administrative building of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, when the occupants seized the building of the representative body of the Crimean Tatars. There were several attempts to rip off the flag from the building by armed people in balaclavas, but employees of the Crimea Fund and activists of the Crimean Tatar national movement defended the state symbol of Ukraine for 8 months. Happy Day of the National Flag!
