August 13, 2020

On Thursday, August 13, the Lefortovo District Court extended the term of detention of political prisoner Ivan Yatskin, who is accused of alleged high treason in the form of espionage. He will remain in jail until October 16, 2020. Lawyer Nikolai Polozov reported about it via his Facebook page.

“At the request of the investigator, the court session was held behind closed doors. In the open part of the session and at the announcement of the introductory and operative parts of the judgment in the courtroom, the consul of Ukraine was present. The court decision was predictable. The term of detention was extended for another 2 months until October 16, 2020”,- the message says.

We remind that at the beginning of December 2019, Russian security forces in the occupied Crimea detained Ivan Yatskin, a resident of Simferopol, on charges of alleged high treason. Subsequently, the man was transferred to Moscow. He was arrested until March 16, 2020. Ivan Yatskin's lawyer, Nikolai Polozov, signed a non-disclosure agreement in the so-called case.
