CTRC launched the International Summer Camp “Freedom Camp”

On Wednesday, August 12, the Crimean Tatar Resource Center with the support of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom in Ukraine and Open Society Foundation launched the International Summer Camp “Freedom Camp”. The event, which takes place in the village of Strilkove, Henichesk district, Kherson region, is attended by activists from different parts of Ukraine. The goal of the camp is to unite activists, exchange experience, obtain information about liberal values, communication technologies, image, conduct international public actions, methods of non-violent resistance, etc., as well as form new creative ideas in the context of the liberation of Crimea.

As part of the camp, which will last until August 20, trainers from Ukraine, Estonia and India will educate the participants about the occupation of Crimea and human rights violations on the peninsula, the role of non-violence in gaining freedom and creating democracy, about liberation movements in a historical context, activism strategies, human rights and sustainability, the role of visual language and design in international communication campaigns.

In addition, it is planned to familiarize and work with such topics as global politics and world order, the Middle East in the mosaic of world processes, information warfare and psychological operations in the modern Russian-Ukrainian war, the Ukrainian path to NATO, Ukraine in world politics, etc.

Also, young activists will be told about the international movement #LIBERATECRIMEA: the experience of fighting for the return of Crimea, the actions and campaigns held, the strategy of the movement and plans for the future. Workshops and group work are planned.

Within the framework of the camp, film screenings about national liberation movements in the world are also planned. Workshops and lectures will alternate with role play and beach sports.

According to Eskender Bariiev, one of the organizers of the event, the combination of lectures, group work, role-playing games, sports events and seaside recreation is an effective mechanism for the formation of new creative ideas.
