August 12, 2020

On Tuesday, August 10, in the Southern District Military Court in the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don, the so-called court sessions were held, during which the prosecution completed presenting the so-called evidence against the defendants in the so-called Krasnohvardiiske Hizb ut-Tahrir case and pro-Ukrainian activist Oleh Prykhodko.

Now lawyers of Ukrainian political prisoners will present evidence.

We remind that on February 14, 2019, Russian security forces conducted mass searches in the dwellings of Crimean Tatars in the village of Oktiabr of Krasnohvardiiske district. Three men were detained and taken to the FSB. Criminal proceedings were instituted against them on suspicion of organizing and participating in the activities of the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization banned in the Russian Federation.

On February 15, the so-called Kyiv District Court of Simferopol arrested Eskender Abdulhaniev, Rustem Emiruseinov and Arsen Abkhairov detained after the aforementioned search on suspicion of their participation in the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization, which is banned in Russia.

We remind that on February 8, 2019, Russian security officials searched the dwelling of pro-Ukrainian activist Oleh Prykhodko in the village of Orikhove, Saky District.

On October 9, 2019, Russian security officials again broke into Oleh Prykhodko’s dwelling and kidnapped him. On October 10, a search was conducted in his dwelling, during which the man was detained. His wife Liubov Prykhodko was also detained. The activist is accused of “terrorism" and “manufacture of explosives.” The woman was detained as a witness, but later released. On October 10, the so-called Kyiv District Court arrested Oleh Prykhodko until December 10. Later Prykhodko’s DNA samples were illegally taken. According to lawyer Nazim Sheikhmambetov, this was done for the purpose of falsifying evidence. The political prisoner had his measure of restraint repeatedly extended.
