The Ministry for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine calls on the international community to strengthen sanctions against the Russian Federation due to the decision to evict the community of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine from the Cathedral of Saint Volodymyr and Olha in Simferopol. The press service of the department reported about this.
Deputy Minister for Reintegration of the Temporary Occupied Territories of Ukraine Ihor Iaremenko said that the expulsion of the Ukrainian Church from the Crimean Peninsula temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation is a manifestation of the weakness of the occupying state. Such actions will receive a proper response from Ukraine.
“Ukraine, in cooperation with international partners, will consider the issue of strengthening sanctions against indioviduals involved in the persecution of the OCU on the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea”,- he added.
We remind that on August 4, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation refused to reconsider the decision to evict the OCU community from the Cathedral in Simferopol. As noted by the lawyer Serhii Zaiiets, this means the complete elimination of the Ukrainian Orthodox community in Crimea, and with such actions the Russian Federation continues to purge Crimea from everything Ukrainian.
