The Office of the Permanent representative of the President of Ukraine of the Autonomous Republic of Ukraine condemned the decision of the occupiers to evict the community of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine from the Cathedral of the Holy Volodymyr and Olha in Simferopol. Anton Korynevych noted that by such actions Russia wants to destroy an important center of unity of Ukrainians. The press service of the department reported about this.
“The court's decision aimed at the eviction of the diocese from the Cathedral of the Holy Volodymyr and Olha is the embodiment of the policy of the occupying state to eliminate the Ukrainian Church in the temporarily occupied Crimean peninsula. Russia wants Crimea not to have a Ukrainian Church, an important center of unity for Ukrainians. We will take all possible measures and actions to protect the Ukrainian church”,- said Anton Korynevych.
It is noted that the the Office of the Permanent representative of the President of Ukraine of the Autonomous Republic of Ukraine together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea will continue to take all possible measures to protect citizens who find themselves in the occupation.
We remind that on August 4, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation refused to reconsider the decision to evict the OCU community from the Cathedral in Simferopol. As the lawyer Serhii Zaiiets noted, this means the complete elimination of the Ukrainian Orthodox community in Crimea, and with such actions the Russian Federation continues to purge Crimea of everything Ukrainian.
