RF continues to clean up Crimea from everything Ukrainian – lawyer

August 5, 2020

On Tuesday, August 4, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation refused to reconsider the decision to evict the OCU community from the Cathedral in Simferopol. As the lawyer Serhii Zaiiets noted, this means the complete elimination of the Ukrainian Orthodox community in Crimea, and with such actions the Russian Federation continues to purge Crimea of everything Ukrainian. This is reported by the lawyer via his Facebook page.

“In essence, this means the complete elimination of the Ukrainian Orthodox community in Crimea. Formally, this is not genocide, but borders with it. Russia is destroying another Ukrainian religious and cultural group and continues to clean up Crimea from everything Ukrainian”,- the message said.

We remind that in July 2019, the so-called Ministry of Property and Land Relations of Crimea began to “repair” the premises of the Cathedral of Saint Volodymyr and Olha of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) in Simferopol, as a result of which, according to the Archbishop of the Crimean Diocese of the OCU Klyment, the property of the church was plundered and broken up.

On August 29, 2019, the so-called 21st Arbitration Appeal Court in Sevastopol upheld the decision to terminate the lease agreement for the premises of the Cathedral of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) in Simferopol.
