IRI and CTRC invite you to the webinar “The rights of internally displaced people to participate in local elections”

On Wednesday, August 5 at 16:00, the International Republican Institute, within the framework of the Academy of Political Leadership, will hold a webinar on the topic “The rights of internally displaced people to participate in local elections.” The aim of the event is to attract IDPs to participate in local elections. The Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, a member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Eskender Bariiev will act as a trainer. We invite you to actively participate!

To participate, you must fill out the application form before August 5, until 12:00. Selected participants will receive an invitation via the e-mail specified in the form. The approximate duration of the webinar will be 90 minutes.

The webinar has been developed and will be interesting for internally displaced people (IDPs), young politicians, future candidates for elective positions, employees of election headquarters, participants in the political process, and public activists.

The aim of the webinar is to attract IDPs to participate in local elections. Also, the trainer will consider ways for IDPs to realize their rights and opportunities through active participation in decision-making processes at the local level. Participants will have the opportunity to exchange experiences and best practices of IDP participation in the development of local communities, discuss the social activity of IDPs and their participation in local elections.

Topics for discussion:

– Interaction between IDPs and local councilors;
– Activities of local self-government bodies aimed at adaptation and integration of IDPs into territorial communities;
– Participation of IDPs in the work of the executive bodies of local councils and local self-government bodies;
– Participation of IDPs in local elections.

Webinar trainer: Eskender Bariiev, Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, former member of the local council. He has experience in organizing and conducting local initiatives, experience in organizing and holding elections to bodies of local national self-government of the Crimean Tatar people – local and regional mejlises and is systematically involved in youth policy.
