Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the law “On the Federal Security Service”, according to which the media is prohibited from publishing and distributing materials about the activities of the FSB without the permission of the department. The corresponding document has been published on the official portal of legal information.

“Servicemen, federal state civil servants, employees of the FSB of Russia, as well as individuals dismissed from the FSB of Russia, are obliged to maintain the confidentiality of information about the activities of the bodies, which is a professional secret”,- the document says.

It is noted that the disclosure or dissemination of professional secrets “can create a threat to the security of the FSB or damage its reputation.” Firstly, information containing a professional secret must undergo an “expert assessment” by the FSB, and without this procedure, its dissemination is prohibited.
