August 3, 2020

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba met with the heads of EU diplomatic missions, during which he called for an expansion of the Crimean package of sanctions against the Russian Federation, since Russia continues its occupation and neglects its obligations as an occupying state in accordance with international law. The press service of the Foreign Ministry reported about this.

“The Foreign Minister noted the key importance of international political and sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation, taking into account the continuation of the aggressive policy of the Kremlin against Ukraine and other states. In particular, he thanked the EU for the Crimean package of sanctions and noted the need to expand it, taking into account the fact that the Russian Federation further continues the occupation and neglects its obligations as an occupying state in accordance with international law. We are talking about the illegal launch of a railway link between Russia and the temporarily occupied Crimea, the illegal holding of Russian referendum on the peninsula”,- the message says.

In addition, the interlocutors discussed the situation with the unlawful persecution of Ukrainian citizens in the occupied Crimea and Russia's militarization of the peninsula and the Black Sea region.
