Ukraine and NATO will strengthen military presence in the Black Sea region

On Thursday, July 9, Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andrii Taran held a telephone conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. The interlocutors agreed to strengthen the military presence on land, sea and in the airspace of the Black Sea region, as the situation continues to deteriorate due to the fact that Russia is changing the balance of forces in the Black Sea. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.

“The parties agreed to strengthen the presence of forces and assets on land, sea and in the airspace of the Black Sea region by increasing air patrols and the presence of naval ships of the Alliance member countries. The Minister of Defense of Ukraine expressed interest in establishing a joint exchange of information on the situation in the region and invited NATO member states to join the national strategic exercises scheduled to be held in southern Ukraine this fall”,- the statement said.

In addition, the interlocutors agreed that the situation continues to deteriorate due to the fact that Russia is increasing its military presence and changing the balance of forces.
