The presence of Hizb-ut-Tahrir members on Crimean land is a legacy of the Ukrainian period – Aksyonov

July 8, 2020

The so-called Head of the occupied Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, thanked the FSB officers who detained 7 Crimean Tatars during mass searches. The Russian so-called Head stated that the presence of Hizb-ut-Tahrir members on Crimean soil is a legacy of the Ukrainian period. According to him, Kyiv wanted to use them to “escalate interethnic and interfaith tensions in the region.” He reported this via his Facebook page.

“I note that the very fact of the presence of Hizb-ut-Tahrir members on Crimean soil is largely the legacy of the Ukrainian period. Kyiv looked at extremists for many years through their fingers, hoping to use them as a tool to escalate interethnic and interfaith tensions in the region. But in the Russian Crimea there is no place for such individuals, they should and will be in prison, with no options”,-the report said.

The Russian so-called Head thanked the employees of the “FSB, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the national guard, all who stand guard over law and order, who protect the Crimeans from the threat of extremism and terrorism.”

We remind that on July 7, Russian security forces conducted mass searches in the dwellings of Crimean Tatars in the Bakhchisaray, Krasnohvardiiske and Simferopol regions of the occupied Crimea. Seven people were detained. All were taken to the FSB in Simferopol.
