3 ringleaders and 4 ordinary active members detained: FSB announces suppression of the activities of a terrorist organization

The FSB of Russia claims that during the mass searches on July 7, allegedly “3 leaders and 4 ordinary active members of the terrorist organization “Hizb ut-Tahrir” were detained. Concerning the detained persons, the so-called criminal cases have been instituted. This was reported by the press service of the FSB of the Russian Federation.

“The conducted investigative activities established that the members of the structure carried out unconstitutional activities based on the doctrine of creating the so-called world caliphate, the destruction of secular society institutions and aimed at overthrowing the current government by force. With the use of conspiracy measures during meetings, they distributed among residents of the peninsula terrorist ideology, carried out the recruitment of Crimean Muslims into their ranks”,- the report said.

It is alleged that a significant amount of Hizb ut-Tahrir propaganda materials, communications, electronic media, which were banned in Russia, were allegedly discovered and seized at the cell members' places of residence.

We remind that on July 7, Russian security forces conducted mass searches in the dwellings of Crimean Tatars in the Bakhchisaray, Krasnohvardiiske and Simferopol regions of the occupied Crimea. Seven people were detained. All were taken to the FSB in Simferopol.
